The park of the superboys: over 250 million dollars
The park of the superboys:
over 250 million dollars
The Prime Minister's Office
TIRANA - The government, in secrecy, made a direct transfer by depositing a large sum into foundations on 25 December. The transaction mentioned has caused strong reactions, since according to unofficial sources it involves an amount exceeding 250 million dollars. The sum is believed to have been kept out of public view and channelled through intermediaries, at a time when the country is experiencing a deep financial crisis.
According to partial data, this is a parking of funds in schemes that are now under the pressure of investigations. This raises serious questions about political and institutional responsibilities, as well as about the relationship between the government and the firms that promised extraordinary profits.
If confirmed, this would be one of the strongest episodes of interaction between power and foundations, deepening the perception that part of the ruling class not only tolerated these mechanisms, but benefited from them.

Usury-like schemes: Are politicians rushing to collect the interest?
Usury-like schemes:
Are politicians rushing to collect the interest?
ANDREA STEFANI
In the murmur of the latest withdrawals from the “usury” funds, sometimes as protesters, sometimes as intermediaries, several politicians have begun to stand out clearly. Perhaps because they had a clear understanding of the clientelist character of the developments after the ’90s, they took for granted not only the path of politics, but also that of quick profits. The scale of the scandal engulfing the country is revealing a bitter picture of the intertwining of politics with private interests, in a society where the state seems increasingly powerless in the face of easy money.
These days, as citizens wait to salvage something from their savings, not a few public figures appear eager to secure their share. This makes the climate of distrust even more dramatic, because instead of reassurance there is a race for gain. If politics was supposed to be the institution of oversight and transparency, it is being perceived as part of the game, even as one of its beneficiaries.
That is why social nervousness is turning into revolt. When citizens see that the law does not operate with the same standard for everyone, then not only is trust in the firms lost, but trust in the state as well. The consequences will not be limited to financial losses. They will affect the foundations of political representation and public morality.
